Magic in a Bottle: Understanding your Plants’ Meal!

Have you ever wondered what’s inside our Plantlovers special fertilizer? It might seem like a simple plastic bottle, but the formula is complex and carefully balanced with all the essential nutrients for your tropical plants’ health and prosperity. In collaboration with Anoral, we have created this mixture to provide all the necessary supplements to keep your houseplants beautiful, lush and disease-free. Let’s take a closer look at this formula and its components to fully understand your beloved plants’ meal!

The Big Three: Macronutrients for Strong Growth

Like all living things, plants also need a strong base of essential macronutrients to flourish. In the case of our green friends those are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), which are available in the ratio mentioned on the bottle (NPK 8-5-6). These are the building blocks for strong roots, full foliage and overall plant health. Let’s break down why:

  • Nitrogen (N) is the important protein source for the plant. It fuels the growth of leaves and stems, therefore providing your plants with the building blocks it needs to become big and strong. We made sure to add some different flavors of nitrogen for your plants to enjoy, some of which will instantly be absorbed by your plants, others will slowly become available in the soil. This combination gives your plant an instant boost while also providing a long-term protein source.
  • Phosphorus (P) can be seen as the plants’ energy booster. It is essential for photosynthesis and converting sunlight into the energy it needs to grow and prosper. It also serves a purpose in root development, making sure your plant has a good foundation to take up all that other good stuff.
  • Potassium (K) is an important controlling agent within the plant. It helps to regulate the water balance, nutrient uptake and even disease resistance. This keeps your plant hydrated, efficiently using the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.

The Essential Extras: Micronutrients for Support

While the macronutrients are the main course, a healthy plant also needs micronutrients.  These can be seen as the vitamins and minerals that we need in smaller doses, but without everything would fall apart. We made sure to include those in our fertilizer formula to provide long-term all-round sustenance, so let’s go over their main functions quickly:

  • Iron (Fe) is essential for the green color of your sunlight powered friends. It is crucial for the production of chlorophyl, which is the green pigment that allows the plant to capture the suns’ energy.
  • Manganese (Mn) is your multi-tasking assistant, playing a role in photosynthesis, energy use and helps to fight of fungal diseases.
  • Zinc (Zn) is an unmissable component of enzymes, these are molecules that act as tools to keep your plant functioning properly. Zinc keeps the internal engine of your rooted roommates running smoothly.
  • Copper (Cu) is also a broadly necessary micronutrient, being involved in photosynthesis, energy use, structural resilience and also disease resistance.

A Well-Rounded Meal for Happy plants

By providing both the macro-and micronutrients in our balanced formula, our fertilizer ensures your plants have everything they need to grow strong and healthy, and also stay this way. Remember that consistent fertilization along with proper watering and sunlight is the recipe for a thriving indoor jungle. Please be advised that giving too much of this nutritious soup can also be harmful and poisonous for your sun-seeking superstars. Like all good foods it should come in moderation, we ask you kindly to always follow the instructions on the bottle and to not over-use, as this may kill your precious babies. Measure only the required amount using the double-necked bottle cap (5mL for 1L of irrigation water).
